Scope 

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the Board of Management, and the Group Management Team (GMT) and plays a vital role in safeguarding the financial health, positioning, risk mitigation, reputation protection and success of our organization by providing strategic financial planning and analysis, risk oversight, budget management, and fiscal oversight. Collaborate with the GMT, STAP Board, the Peterson Family, Country Managers, Departments/Stakeholders to ensure financial goals are met, risk mitigation, and implement effective financial strategies and reporting.  

The CFO needs to understand that the entrepreneurial DNA of the Group is a valued and precious value. Moreover, the family values of the Peterson Family are deeply imbedded in the Group, and this is greatly appreciated.  

Key Focus Areas and Responsibilities 

  1. Execute Financial Strategy 
    * Develop and implement financial strategies and systems to optimize the company’s financial performance and growth.
  2. Growth Planning
    Identify and advise on opportunities for growth, increase profitability, and optimising margins.
  3. Investment Management
    * Collaborates with the Chief Excusive Officer (CEO) and GMT to formulate portfolio strategies, facilitate investment decisions, and enhance value creation.

    Evaluate past investments and opportunities to learn from such investments.
    *
    Participate in Mergers and Acquisitions projects. 
  4. Financial Planning
    * Drive financial planning in collaboration with the CEO and GMT.
    * Monitor and analyse financial trends, providing insights and recommendations to GMT regarding potential risks or opportunities. 
  5. Cash Management (worldwide)
    * Monitoring cash flows and financing.
    * Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
    * Overview of the financial consequences of projects, i.e. ICT.
    * Drive efficient intercompany settlements.
    * Be focal point of Bank relations.
  6. Risk Management
    * Oversee company risk globally.
    * Identify potential risks or inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
    * Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments and propose risk-reducing measures to the CEO and GMT.
    * Insight and oversight over claims and disputes worldwide. 
  7. Tax Management
    * Lead and manage the tax function and related procedures/processes.
    * Oversee and ensure tax compliance globally.
    * Be actively involved in discussions with the Dutch Tax Authorities.
  8. Insurance
    * Evaluate existing insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage and risk mitigation.
    * Assess the company’s risk exposure and recommend appropriate insurance strategies.
    * Oversee insurance claims, ensuring timely submission and accurate documentation. 
  9. Internal and external Auditing
    * Lead and manage the internal audit function and related procedures/processes.
    * Assess the effectiveness of internal controls across financial and operational processes. 
    * Oversee risk-based audits covering various aspects of the business. 
    * Oversee planned annual audits, ensuring complete and timely reporting.
    * Ensure timely follow up of issues responsible for the external audit of the Group. 
  10. Stakeholder Management
    * Communicate and regular update, as applicable, of company’s financial strategy with the relevant Stakeholders, developments and position to investors, the Board, and other relevant stakeholders.
    * Works closely with the CEO, GMT, Country Managers/Department Heads/Financial Teams to monitor performance and make recommendations.
    * Interface with Regional Management Team members as a collaboration partner. 
  11. Reporting
    * Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of financial reports.
    * Inform the CEO GMT on the company’s finances, analyse deviations and act where necessary.
    * Responsible for the preparation of the Annual Accounts.
    * Oversee the preparation of reports required by governmental agencies worldwide. 
  12. Processes and Systems
    * Establish and update accounting procedures and ensure compliance.
    * Collaborate with the GMT, Country Managers and Department Heads to establish and maintain financial controls and processes.
    * Oversee the company’s finance IT system.
    * Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.
    * Identify and mitigate areas where accounting and financial record-keeping processes can be improved.
  13. Regulatory
    * Ensure that there are procedures in place to review compliance with national/local financial requirements and relevant regulatory entities by insight into existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action regarding non-compliance.
    * Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and reporting requirements. 
    * Ensure compliance with Dutch GAAP by preparing and filing relevant financial reports. 
  14. Team Management
    * Manage and guide the performance of the Finance Teams and Regional Controllers, providing mentorship and development opportunities. 

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Masters/MBA is preferred. 
  • Professional certification, i.e. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is advantageous. 
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in a senior managerial capacity (preferably financial) within a comparable international organisation. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Dutch Tax Authorities. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Dutch GAAP. 
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices. 
  • Strong knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies and plans. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, financial software and systems, with the ability to quickly adapt to new tools and technologies. 
  • Experience in Mergers and Acquisitions  
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and data privacy regulations is advantageous.
