HSEQ Advisor

Reports to:

Senior HSEQ advisor

 Job Function/Scope

The role will be to provide leadership, guidance, advice and support to meet the objectives in the HSEQ Policy and Operational Excellence Plans, and to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and legal requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility to support the site management to achieve effective compliance to Peterson HSEQ management system.
  • Maintain the HSEQ section of the BMS to ensure legal compliance to applicable HSE regulations and ensure that the content of the BMS meets ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards requirements.
  • Train, support and provide advice to site management to ensure their compliance to applicable Peterson HSEQ procedures and legal regulatory requirements relating to HSEQ.
  • Participate in Kelvin TOP-SET incident investigations to determine root cause, identify key lessons and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participate and lead client and certification audits on Peterson’s Management System. Ensuring effective close out of actions where required.
  • Lead internal and supplier audits to requirements of audit procedures, schedules and plans. Ensure actions raised are fed back and effective close out actions are achieved.
  • Seek to continually improve the HSEQ performance of Peterson through innovations and striving to achieve best practice.
  • Attend client QPR meetings and present HSEQ statistical information.
  • Liaison and participation in Industry working groups, such as Step Change in Safety.
  • Participate in project and/or work groups on operational or HSEQ topics as the subject specialist.
  • Provide guidance to site management and supervisors on completion of incident reports and implementation of actions from report.
  • Maintenance of the legal and aspects registers to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Communication of any updates and changes to the site management.
  • Management and trending of HSEQ statistical information for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Delivery of comprehensive and in-depth HSEQ inductions to management new starts.
  • Review and approval of new suppliers in conjunction with site management and commercial department, including pre-approval audits where required, and ongoing suppler management.
  • Development of training packages on HSEQ topics.
  • Advice and guidance to Safety Coaches in meeting their roles and responsibilities.
  • To intervene and hold safety conversations where required.
  • Travel across Peterson sites as required.
  • Comply with Level 1 of HSE Employee Responsibility and Accountability.
  • Comply with Level 1 of Peterson Values and Behaviours.

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • NEBOSH or NVQ level 5/6 Diploma
  • Lead auditor qualification
  • Presentation skills and ability to develop presentations materials.
  • Good communication skills; including safety conversations and interventions.
  • Ability to research topics and deliver effective guidance
  • Ability to develop training packages and deliver training as required.
  • Environmental Awareness Training.
  • Risk assessment training.
  • COSHH assessment training.
  • Investigator qualification
  • Minimum five years’ experience in working in logistics operations or oil and gas industry in safety role.

Desirable:

  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification
  • ISO 9001 Lead auditor qualification
  • Lead Investigator Kelvin TOP-SET certificate.
