We are seeking an experienced and driven professional to lead our palm and coconut oil projects in Asia. This is a senior-level role for someone with over 10 years of experience in the sector, who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative, and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Management
  • Lead engagements with international clients or their key account managers focused on implementing NDPE (No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation) commitments.
  • Develop and implement Verified Deforestation-Free (VDF) protocols in alignment with client goals.
  • Support clients in effectively managing and responding to grievances, ensuring adherence to robust sustainability standards and practices. This includes facilitating transparent grievance mechanisms, tracking issues, and ensuring appropriate resolutions.
  • Represent Peterson Solutions in initiatives such as the Palm Oil Collaboration Group and the Sustainable Coconut Partnership.
  • Oversee the execution of services related to traceability, sustainability reporting, greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation, and regenerative agriculture.
  1. Business Development
  • Drive business development initiatives in the region, with a focus on palm oil and coconut oil-related services.
  • Collaborate with other offices to expand the scope and reach of Peterson Solutions’ offerings.
  • Serve as the primary regional point of reference for services related to deforestation-free supply chains and sustainability.
  • Experience or familiarity with collaboration with NGOs, Funds, (e.g., GIZ, UNDP, Worldbank), and brands.
  1. Strategic Advisory
  • Act as a trusted advisor for clients on strategic discussions related to palm and coconut oil industries.
  • Provide guidance on emerging trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in sustainable agriculture and supply chain management.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the palm and coconut oil industries, including project management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Communication: Strong written and spoken English and proficiency in Bahasa is a plus.
  • Independent Working: Ability to operate with minimal supervision while delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Global Mindset: Flexibility to work in diverse, international environments and engage with stakeholders across cultures and time zones.
  • Problem Solving: Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Sustainability, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with sustainability certification systems (e.g., RSPO, ISPO, or Rainforest Alliance) and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

Additionally, she provides strategic direction to our clients who are or will be facing upcoming stringent environmental regulations in the European market, in areas such as the Green Claims Directive, the Ecodesign Directive, and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) to get ready before for the regulations.

Wenhui Shan

Wenhui Shan

Wenhui is from China and is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Wenhui holds an MSc in Industrial Ecology, with a background in environmental engineering. She is a Sustainability Consultant in environmental service of Peterson Projects and Solutions, specialising in sustainability reporting and strategy development, focusing on quantitative analysis of carbon footprint, GHG, LCA and impact assessment under the framework of GHG protocol and ISO standard. Wenhui is also experienced in material flow analysis, geographical analysis and modelling for the circular economy.

Tomas Fiege Vos de Wael

Tomas Fiege Vos de Wael

From the Netherlands and based in Vienna, holds a second legal state exam from Germany. He has been working for 15 years in the international banking sector, was managing a start up for the sustainable production of sugar and ethanol in Indonesia for 4 years, and since 10 years working with Peterson Projects and Solutions as senior sustainability consultant. Tomas is focusing on financial related assignments, governance and scheme design.

Danny de Graauw

Danny de Graauw

From and based in the Netherlands. After ten years of working at Customs at Schiphol Airport, he switched to the business world and started working in the city where he was born and raised. He works already for more than 10 years at Peterson Energy Logistics in Den Helder, where he is responsible for handling customs formalities and processing customs declarations in accordance with laws and regulations. With his strong background in customs regulations, AEO and CBAM, he is of great value to guide you through the regulation.

Nick Poldervaart

Nick Poldervaart

Nick Poldervaart, based in the Netherlands and holding a BSc in Business Administration, is responsible for the customs department at Peterson Energy Logistics. He leads a team of customs specialists focusing on the constantly changing customs regulations as well as all daily operational customs activities. The goal is to be proactive and keep clients well-informed about these changes, including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). CBAM significantly impacts organizations importing high CO2-value goods. Failure to comply can have serious consequences.
